SBB14Team Robot Roundabout: Wins 3lb Open Class – Seattle Bot Bash 14 (June 2016)

Team Robot Roundabout continued their winning streak in the 3lb open class at the Seattle Bot Bash 14 with an all new robot called Kinetic. This was the first time RR entered a competition with an active weapon on a 3lb bot and we could not have be more pleased. This event was huge with over 50 robots and 4 separate classes included the 12 pounders.  This is such an awesome sport! Penick-BotsTeam Robot Roundabout: Wins 3lb Open Class – RoboGames (April 2016)

Team Robot Roundabout traveled to Pleasanton, CA this spring to compete in the 2016 RoboGames; the twelfth annual all-events robotic world championship. Participants from around the world competed in over 50 different events: combat robots, fire-fighters, LEGO bots, hockey bots, walking humanoids, soccer bots, sumo bots, and even androids that do Kung-Fu.

Our team entered 2 3lb “Beetle weight” combat robots into the open class division that consisted of mostly adults. After two days of fierce competition with over 36 robots in the field, Blue Thunder and Red Dragon were both undefeated and would have to face each other in the semi-final match. It was a great battle between team mates, but Blue Thunder won and went on to win the world championship. Red Dragon won his final match and placed third overall.

A great event hosted by Western Allied Robotics. Ethan takes his very first win with his bot Red Dragon. This is the beginning of a brother rival – twin vs twin in a metal on metal battle. Who knows what will happen once their little brother Jack is ready to enter the competition in the same 3lb class.

Team Robot Roundabout entered its very first combat robot competition with their 1lb pound kit robots dubbed Kitbot-M (Morgan) and Kitbot-E (Ethan). We learned a lot and Morgan was able to take home second place.  The Western Allied Robotics club really knows how to put on a smashing good time!  We will be back and with better bots for sure.
